Welcome to Nancy & Ed Jackman Performance Centre, a new venue and facility committed to providing affordable and well-equipped spaces to Toronto’s cultural scene. Nancy & Ed Jackman Performance Centre is at 877 Yonge St., just north of Yonge and Bloor!

This state-of-the-art facility features a rehearsal space, performance space, green room, and lobby.

The Performance Hall

CapacityDepending on the configuration, the theatre/main space has a 200-person capacity accommodating 90-144 seated on risers. It is also ideal for rehearsing for a larger stage. The flexibility of seating (modular and removable) provides great versatility.

Venue features

  • 90-144 – seating risers and a stage for performances, multiple orientations available with the flexibility to create your own.
  • Theatrical performances are supported by a black curtain around the walls and marley to cover the hardwood floor for the performance space (some limitations for the marley coverage depending on orientation)
  • The Bösendorfer Imperial Grand Piano and a beautiful hardwood floor will support concerts, recitals, and musical performances well.

All the risers and seats can be cleared for 1,965 square feet of playing space

Record sound and video from our soundproof tech booth. Space is ideal for recording anything from audition tapes to recitals, to medium sized ensembles (5-20 players). Some equipment is available in-house.

The ABCRA Studio

Dual-Purpose Functionality: The ABCRA Studio can function as a rehearsal room (ideal for workshops, music rehearsals, table work, smaller stagings/smaller cast rehearsals, coaching room, or meeting space) or performance support space (dressing rooms & warm-up space). It also features folding tables and chairs, a fully accessible toilet and shower as well as a modest sound system for playback.

Zielony Green Room

Comfortable with a kitchenette: A comfortable and intimate space for artists & special guests. Monday to Friday, during office hours this space is shared with office staff unless by exclusive arrangement.

As a support space

Amenities: Comfortable seating for 5-10 with space for more standing, a kitchenette with sink, microwave, and fridge. Audio can be routed from The Nancy & Ed Jackman Theatre for performers or speakers waiting to enter.

Anne-Marie Applin Lobby

Leading from the main entrance of the Performing Arts Underground, the Anne-Marie Applin Lobby​ is a captivating space where art and function seamlessly converge.

Adorned with a mesmerizing mural by acclaimed Canadian artist Madison van Rijn, the lobby features a dedicated bar, ensuring refreshments are always within reach.

The versatile Richard Carter Box Office effortlessly transitions into a second bar or a convenient guest check-in area, enhancing the overall guest experience.

The Salon

The small ancillary room is a space ideal for private meetings, event staff headquarters, stage management, wardrobe/fitting room, event storage, or coat check.

Amenities: seating around a folding table for 6-8, lockable.

Performing arts rentals are subsidized by a small percentage of commercial rentals as well as through support for the building of the space by the City of Toronto, Ontario, Heritage Canada and visionary donors.
